All physical entities on Earth, whether living or non-living, undergo a process from birth to death, or from formation to destruction, and ultimately return to the soil of the earth. However, the wisdom that humanity has built up is an intangible entity that transcends the cycle followed by tangible things and continues to evolve endlessly.
The Earth's terrain, by contrast, is a being that endlessly changes, repeating cycles of shaping and breaking. Such change is not necessarily progress or advancement, yet within it may be quietly inscribed codes and traces we have not yet deciphered.
As I let my mind dwell on this possibility, I remain deeply drawn to the enduring presence of the earth.
 
 
川上りえ個展　「地の符号」
 
地球上のすべての物理的存在は、生物であれ無生物であれ、誕生から死、あるいは成形から破壊という過程を経て、最終的には大地の土へと還っていく。しかし、人類が築き上げてきた叡智は無形の存在であり、有形のものが辿る循環を超えて、絶え間なく発展し続ける。
一方、大地は成形と破壊を繰り返しながら、永遠に変化し続ける存在だ。その変化は必ずしも進展や発展とは異なるが、そこには私たちがまだ解読し得ない符号や痕跡が静かに刻まれているのかもしれない。
私はその想像に心を馳せつつ、今なお大地の存在に深く惹かれ続けている。
